Leah: indoor maternity

Ok so I know I've been bad about posting, but I am working on it. I had the privilege of photographing one of my friends this past saturday. Leah is such a spunky and unique person and I adore her. Let me tell you a little bit about Leah. I have know Leah for about a year or so now. I first met Leah when I started my first photographic job as a graduate. She and I hit it off immediately. She is a great mom and a passionate photographer. This is Leah's second bundle of joy she is welcoming into the world, a baby girl. Her son Isaac was so excited when I came that day, he was overjoyed and anticipated when it was his turn to jump in. Well enough of the background lets get to the pièce de résistance. This is the first of two posts. I am also photographing Leah in September so be looking for that in the next few weeks. So here are a few of my favorites from this session.

Me and My Boys

Well Hello there. I know it's been quite a while since I last posted. Work has been crazy busy as usual. I am still not shooting as much for myself as I would like to but I am working on that. I decided on a whim that yesterday (my only day off) I would take the boys in to get pictures take, since I have to real pictures with them since my attempt at a christmas card. So the boys are now almost 16 months and as rotten as ever. I will be sending pictures out soon so be expecting them in the mail. Well here they are. I promise to be posting a lot more. I hope.

A Successful Surgery

I talked to the surgeon today. Marciano's surgery went exactly as planned, he is in recovery. He has a rod in between the joint connecting his shoulder to his elbow, holding the two pieces together. He also has wires over top the bones ensuring that it heals properly and keeping the shards of broken bone form moving. I talked to the doctor later on and he still isn't eating, but he's awake and coherent, which is good. He seems to be fine not in too much pain but still aware that he is in a strange place. With any luck he will be home tomorrow night. He has to go back in 2 weeks to get the staples removed and then back in another 4 weeks just for a routine check up and x-ray to make sure everything is healed properly. Well I will update more tomorrow when my baby comes home.

Marciano Update!

So I just called the doctor and as of right now the surgeon just got there, so Marciano is scheduled to be in surgery later this evening. He isn't eating but hey who can blame him. I will be updated after his surgery and later into the night once he wakes up from the morphine. And hopefully he will eat once he feels better. Please everyone keep him in your prayers to make sure he pulls through surgery and has a safe and speedy recovery. Once I know more I will update this asap. Till later then

Marciano

So I have had the day from hell. I came home from church this afternoon and to my surprise one of my kittens, Marciano came down our stairs limping. I went to go pick him up and again to my surprise I found his right front leg completely limp. I of course rushed him to the ER, under all precautions hoping it was just a dislocated shoulder. To my dismay it was the exact opposite. Somehow Marciano had fallen and badly broken his leg and splintered a piece of the bone into even tinier pieces. I then later found out that he has to have extensive surgery where they join the bone back together with a metal plate. I was told he was lucky to have not pierced through the skin because the break was so bad. We still have no clue how he did it, but needless to say he is under the watchful care of the nurses and doctors at falls road animal hospital. It was so hard and sad to leave him. Like any true mother I had to say goodbye to my baby before I left, hoping I would feel the least bit better leaving him there. I was assured that he was in great hands. I just received a very reassuring call updating me that he was awake and a very happy boy. He is on pain meds and great news he can have his surgery tomorrow and be home by the latest wednesday afternoon. I am so relieved. I hope to have even better news tomorrow. Well thats all for now.

Beautiful Sun!

I spent the day with my friends Kasey and Leah. We decided to go outside and explore with our cameras. Although we didn't get to spend a lot of time photographing things I think I got some great shots. I loved the fact that leah was wearing cowboy boots so I took full advantage of photographing them on the train tracks. We had so much fun today. It was beautiful out and I definitely needed the warm weather. So here are my favorites of the day. =) Hope tomorrow is as good a day and even better than today.

Baking cookies

This year I didn't get to bake chocolate chip cookies with my mom like we usually do. So I decided to bake some today of all days. At the same time I thought what perfect topic for todays self portrait. I loved todays self portrait because I got to get dirty. I love baking cookies. I love cooking, its one of my favorite things to do. But the baking went horribly wrong, I burnt the cookies. =) Well thats all for today
